In such a situation, many banks have decided that just as there is Agni Veer vacancy in the Indian Army, similarly apprenticeship posts will be filled in banks for one year.
The process of temporary recruitment has started in government banks which are facing the problem of continuously decreasing number of employees. For the first time, government banks are hiring youth aged between 21 to 25 years as trainees.
In these appointments like ‘Agniveer’, employees will be hired on a monthly honorarium of Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000. Under this new system, Central Bank of India, SBI, Bank of India, Canara Bank etc. have started recruitment.

Actually, banking services in rural areas are being affected due to shortage of employees. To improve banking services, public sector banks have started recruitment for the first time under the trainee programs of the Central Government.
Recently Union Bank, Canara and Indian Overseas Bank have announced that they will hire trainees for one year apprenticeship.
According to experts, there will be no obligation on the banks to make permanent recruitment of trainees after the completion of the training work. But it is expected that the experience of working in a bank will help them in getting a job in the financial sector.
Dean Trivedi, former joint secretary of All India Bank Officers Association, said, this new experiment of apprenticeship cannot be a substitute for regular recruitment.

Candidates selected for various posts in government banks will get a salary ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 15000 per month. This salary will be decided according to the post and qualification.

- Union Bank 500 posts
- Indian Overseas 550 posts
- Bank of India 1300 posts
- Canara Bank 3,000 posts
