Haryana Free plot scheme: The cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme-Expansion (MMGAY-E) has been approved in the Haryana Cabinet meeting. This ambitious scheme is an extension of the Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme and its objective is to provide residential plots of 50 square yards in Mahagram Panchayats and 100 square yards in General Panchayats to the economically weaker sections in rural areas, especially landless families. That means, under this scheme, plots will be made available to BPL families.
Plots will be provided to BPL families by the government.
This is a great initiative of the government started for poor families. Under the scheme, the department will check the eligibility of the applicant and the plot will be allotted only on payment of a lump sum cost of Rs 1,000. After providing the plot, possession will be issued in the form of possession letter. Compensation will be provided to the beneficiary if he does not get physical possession of the developed plot within 2 years of the issuance of the allotment letter i.e. the rights letter. Under this scheme, the government will provide the price of land to the Gram Panchayats as per the actual collector rate of agricultural land.
Beneficiaries will get various types of benefits
This scheme will benefit those families whose annual income verified in Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) is up to Rs 1.80 lakh. The scheme provides financial assistance up to Rs 6,00,000 in the form of loans at low interest from nationalized banks, housing finance companies and micro finance institutions to assist the beneficiaries in completing the construction of their house. With this scheme of the government, the standard of living of poor class families will improve.

The estimated project cost for MMGAY-E has been fixed at Rs 2,950.86 crore for the period 2024-2027. Haryana Government is showing commitment to ensure safe and secure housing to every rural family. This will promote economic and social stability of the weakest sections of the society. In such a situation, this plan of the government is really commendable. Under this scheme, people who do not have houses will be provided plots by the government.

Under the scheme, all the families of Haryana whose annual income is less than Rs 180,000 as per Parivar Pehchan Patra will be provided plots of 50 square yards in Mahagram Panchayats and 100 square yards in general Panchayats.
