PM Free Electricity Scheme: A new scheme has been announced by our country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The name of this scheme is ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme’. This is rooftop solar scheme. Through this new scheme, 1 crore houses will be provided the benefit of free electricity. The government is going to invest more than Rs 75,000 crore on this scheme. The aim behind this scheme is to illuminate 1 crore houses by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

Under this scheme, the government will transfer subsidy directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. That means the beneficiaries will get the direct benefits of the scheme. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will also get the benefit of bank loans at concessional rates. Information was given by the Prime Minister that for this a national online portal will be created in which all types of facilities will be integrated. In a way, this portal will work like an interface. You will be able to avail every kind of facility in this. To promote this scheme at the grassroots level, urban local bodies and panchayats will be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems in their areas.

Apart from this, the objective of this scheme is to increase income, reduce electricity bills and create employment opportunities for the people. In such a situation, this is indeed a commendable step. If you are planning to install solar panels on the roof of your house then you can apply for subsidy under Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under the scheme, you will be provided Rs 18 thousand for one kilowatt, Rs 30 thousand for two kilowatts and total subsidy of Rs 78 thousand for 3 kilowatts. To avail the subsidy, you have to keep in mind that the load should not be more than 85 percent.
